Róisín Dubh Comedy presents…

Saturday Night KARLnival (Online)

Saturday 27th June (as part of our birthday celebrations )

The KARLnival returns to our screens on Saturday night 27th June as KARL SPAIN and friends bring you an hour + of comedy, songs & banter.

Featuring...

JOE ROONEY, Fr Damo in Fr Ted / Killinaskully

ENYA MARTIN,  viral sensation / creator of Giz A Laugh

And live from the Róisín Dubh stage, three of Galway’s finest young comics AMY WALSH, IAN BURKE and SIOBHAN BROSNAN

Our Co Galway based performers will be live from our Róisín Dubh stage, and will be performing to our Zoom audience on a big screen set up in front of the stage. The remaining acts, Joe, Enya & Karl, will as is now normal be performing via Zoom from their homes. It’s just one step closer to getting us back to the real thing, hopefully this can feel just like a real comedy club.

BE IN OUR LIVE AUDIENCE : JOIN THE ZOOM ROOM

Two ticket types

Zoom Room 'VIP Front Row' Ticket - €8 (limited to 25)

If you'd like to be a part of the action, you can join the 'backstage' of our live-stream, by being on the Zoom call and providing the laughs, LIVE. With this ticket you get to have your mic and camera on, so you’re visible to comics and occasionally our livestream viewers and your laughter adds to the atmosphere to our show.

You also get access to an extra hour of fun - pre-show laughs in the Green Room, and post-show banter with Karl until his batteries run out.

Zoom Room ‘Observer Ticket - €5

Join the 'backstage' of our live-stream, by being on the Zoom call, but with your camera and mic turned off for the show.  That way you can carry on with your conversations or let the baby cry or the dog bark away, without ruining the show for everyone else.

You also get access to an extra hour of fun - pre-show laughs in the Green Room, and post-show banter with Karl until his batteries run out (camera & mic optional post show)

Drinks are provided, you’ll find them in your fridge (or the local offie)

Show starts 7:30pm, Tickets on Eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/saturday-comedy-karlnival-online-tickets-110006723070

THE LINE UP:

Joe Rooney

A stalwart of the Irish comedy scene,  Joe is seriously comically multi-talented. He was voted Best Comedian at the Pure M Awards in 2017. His energetic mixture of stand-up and musical comedy has long proved a hit with all ages and nationalities. He has been a headline act in venues all over Britain and Ireland for many years including The Stand ( Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle), The Empire (Belfast) and Laughter Lounge (Dublin) and has headlined clubs in China, Kansas City, Dubai, Moscow and Bahrain. He regularly does improv with Dublin Comedy Improv at the International Bar and guests with Stephen Frost Improv AllStars in Ireland and at last year's Glastonbury Festival. .

Joe is also a successful actor and writer having acted as Father Damo in Father Ted and Timmy in the long running RTE sitcom Killinaskully as well as a host of short and feature films. He starred in the CBBC series Roy, was winner of Ireland's Celebrity Come Dine With Me, got a five star review in the theatre version of The Shawshank Redemption along with Omid Djalili, recorded a single “The Rockier Road To Poland” with Shane MacGowan and performed a five week run in the Gaiety in John B Keane’s The Chastitute. He is most definitely no ordinary Joe.

“Occasionally laconic, at times infectiously manic, and always riveting – coupled with his years of experience have made him one of Ireland’s “10 Most Wanted”, when promoters nationwide pick up their phones” - Hot Press

“The intensity he puts into his singing and character acting is on another level. His act rolls along smoothly and nothing felt forced… great stand-up and excellent storytelling, full of gags”  - Chortle

Enya Martin

Enya is a comedian and creator of the “Giz a laugh” Facebook page. A Dublin native and former marketing executive, Enya has successfully made the transition from writing and creating hugely popular online videos to knocking them dead on the live comedy circuit .

After over 60 million online views Enya’s first comedy sketch show “Giz a Laugh Live”  sold out Vicar Street for three nights. Her stand up comedy features Enya's sharp eyed observations from her madcap life.

Amy Walsh

Headford local Amy Walsh was a finalist in the Bray Comedy Festival’s New Act competition as well as Show Me The Funny right before lockdown, and is quickly becoming a favourite on the Irish comedy scene.

Ian Burke

Since bursting onto the comedy scene a little over a year ago, Ian Burke has quickly established himself as an act to watch by reaching the finals of Show Me The Funny, Dublin’s Next Top Comic, Bray Comedy Festival’s Best New Act competition, and by winning Cork Comedian of the Year (and bringing the title home to his native Galway).

Siobhan Brosnan

Siobhan Brosnan is a comedian/school teacher hailing from the Kingdom of Kerry. Wasting no time with comedy, Siobhan has performed all over the country in the last year and destroyed her Yaris in the process. She also co-runs the PaddyShack Comedy Club in Galway city. Be warned, Siobhan will blindside you with her dark humour and sharp observations.

This show is hosted by the “achingly funny” Karl Spain.

Karl has been in stand-up comedy for over twenty years. Last seen on telly hosting Laughter In The Eyre filmed at Galway Comedy Carnival 2019, Karl is probably best known in Ireland for losing a few ounces on Celebrity Operation Transformation, and his TV series Karl Spain Wants A Woman in which he not only got huge ratings but he also found himself a woman.

As well as being a regular at Kilkenny Cat Laughs, Galway Comedy Carnival, Vodafone Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Montreal Just for Laughs. Karl was a resident writer for Republic of Telly and still is for countless other comedians.
