Róisín Dubh Comedy presents…
Comedy KARLnival Online
Saturday May 16th
The Comedy KARLnival returns to our computer screens this Saturday night as KARL SPAIN and friends bring you an hour of comedy, songs & banter. This show features the comedy stylings of….
Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner & former Juice Pig, PHIL NICHOL
Star of Live at the Apollo, The Last Leg & Austin Powers 3, TANYALEE DAVIS
And from RTÉ’s The Savage Eye / Irish Pictorial Weekly, JOHN COLLEARY
This show is part of the 24 hour Comedy Festival, 24 continuous hours of stand up comedy, around The Entire Planet. A comedy festival happening one time zone at a time. Shows starting at 8pm EST on Friday 15th in New York, and traveling west for the next 24 hours, stopping off in Galway at 8pm BST (British Summer Time / or just plain old 8 o'clock Galway Time) on Saturday May 16th, through the magic of time travel. *
As a regular viewer, the show is free to watch on Róisín Dubh Comedy’s Facebook page as a ‘Pay What You Want’ event from 8pm.
If you can afford a few €uros, you can contribute directly to our acts by donating via our Ko-Fi account on the night
or to our US Charity partner "Comedy Gives Back: Laugh Aid" a US registered non-profit set up to help working comedians from all around the world who have lost gigs and income due to the Coronavirus.
If you can’t afford to pay anything you can just watch it for free. We are just trying to spread the positive joy that comedy can bring to people all around the world. Laughter is the best medicine after all, unless you have coronavirus, in which case we recommend you drink bleach. **
If you'd like to be a part of the action, you can actually join the 'backstage' of our live-stream, by being on the call and providing the laughs, live. You can buy an audience ticket on Eventbrite for €8.
This ticket will also give you FREE entry to any Tuesday night Comedy KARLnival once we're back in Róisín Dubh, in real life!
We will send you a Zoom invite around 7:30pm, at least a half hour before we go live on Facebook, so you get some extra behind-the-stream craic with your ticket before the broadcast starts! While space is limited, social distancing will be observed and you can BYOB, it’s your home after all.
*  It’s not time travel, it’s that at some point in the middle of the Pacific Ocean we cross the international date line.
** Please don’t drink bleach, it’s bad, really bad.
Phil Nichol
Winner of the If.comedy award (formerly the Perrier) at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and former member of cult Canadian comedy trio Corky and the Juice Pigs, Phil Nichol is a truly unique performer. An acclaimed actor, award winning comedian, producer, presenter, writer and musician, there is no end to his talent.
Phil is an energetic and exciting performer with an unquenchable thirst to break boundaries and innovate with his work. His skill as an improviser whether it be musical, comedy or straight is unparalleled. With a surreal edge to some of his mischievous rantings, Nichol always brings something new to the stage, his keen sense of fun and eye for the shocking and absurd has cemented his position as one of the best comedians on the circuit today. Quite simply, Phil is both delightfully shocking and hilarious at the same time. Hovering between insanity and brilliance, you could power a small town from his performances. Add that to storytelling nous, stagecraft surprises and a brazen disregard for personal dignity. This is comedy at its most eye-popping, synapse-fizzing, moral majority baiting manic.
“It is like spending an hour in a comedy jacuzzi” The Scotsman
“A genius of a show”  The Herald
"Nichol is the sexiest, funniest, dichotomy on a stage today - vulnerable but kicks ass, smart but dumb a lovely guy who does appaling things"..... Edinburgh Guide
Tanyalee Davis
Small in stature but a truly gargantuan talent, Tanyalee Davis is a feisty 3’6” Canadian comedian who has headlined at comedy clubs, colleges and festivals all around the world. Her debut stand-up show, Little Do They Know, received four-star reviews at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe. She has since supported Frankie Boyle on his UK tour and appeared on such prestigious TV shows as Live at the Apollo, The Last Leg and The John Bishop Show. Tanyalee has also appeared in numerous movies, including El Matador, For Da Love of Money and Austin Powers 3: Goldmember. She has been described as the Ferrari of comedy – low to the ground and kind of racy.
“The little lady with the big voice”  Chortle
John Colleary
Apart from being one of the most in demand comics in the land, John Colleary has also co written and starred in IFTA nominated shows, The Savage Eye (RTÉ 2) and Irish Pictorial Weekly (RTÉ 1). Other TV credits include appearances on STAND AND DELIVER (live from Roisin Dubh) & THE PANEL (RTE2). A talented actor and mimic, John recently featured as one third of The Gusset Brothers on The Tommy Tiernan Show (RTE1).
He has also scooped a PPI award for his topical sketch writing and performance on Today FM’s drivetime flagship, The Last Word. A regular at all the major festivals including Vodafone Comedy Carnival and Electric Picnic, John Colleary is definitely one to watch.
