JASON BYRNE : PEOPLE'S PUPPETEER
Thursday 26th July 7pm, €25 / €23 conc
VENUE: SEAPOINT, Salthill
After the phenomenal success of his Cirque Du Byrne tour, Jason Byrne is bringing a brand new show back to the Galway Arts Festival. People’s Puppeteer will have new stories, new props, and more of his trademark high octane lunacy.
Jason’s inspired, high-energy mad-cappery has made him the biggest selling comedian at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival. There is no other comedian like him and his sell out shows have won him many awards including Chortle Award for best headliner 2007, Perrier Newcomer Award Nomination 1998 and Perrier Award Nomination 2001.
Jason’s Sony Radio Gold Award for the Jason Byrne Show (Radio 2) and the best use of an audience in 2011, confirmed his place as the definitive clown of modern comedy.
You will have seen him on Live at the Apollo, Dave’s One Night Stand & the Channel 4 Comedy Gala and if you've already seen him in person you'll know he's completely mad and that no two shows could ever be the same.
“Unmissable” Evening Standard
“Full-on, doubled-up, gasping-for-oxygen hilarious” Chortle
“A comedy God” Mirror.co.uk
“It’s hard to think of any other comic who matches Jason Byrne for ebullient energy and regulated chaos” Independent
“An hour of stand-up so joyous the clinically depressed should get it on prescription” Metro

Midlake stays ahead of its own time by making music that transcends it. The Denton, Texas band's 2006 release The Trails of Van Occupanther got fans and bloggers re-evalutating dormant ancestors like Fleetwood Mac, America, Crosby Stills Nash and Young and Bread - music that has been embedded in the indie worlds unconscious (Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear) ever since. On their 2010 release The Courage of Others, Midlake reinvented themselves with influences from British folk to Russian Cinema - and received rave reviews culminating in the band being named Best Live Act by Mojo Magazine. + More
