The renowned Jägermeister Freezer Sessions touch down in the Roisin Dubh this Thursday, June 21st. 

Presented by Hot Press, The Freezer Sessions has already played to packed houses in Cork and Limerick and this Thursday returns to the Roisin Dubh, Galway with music from JAPE, THE RIPTIDE MOVEMENT, PREACHERS SON and DOTT.

The success story of Richie Egan shows no signs of slowing down. With Jape now a full-band concern, their leader recently scooped his second Choice Music Prize for last year's fantastic Ocean Of Frequency. Jape previously picked up the award for '09's Ritual. Away from the studio, they continue to play major festivals like Glastonbury, Electric Picnic and this year's Eurosonic and count Jack White and Brendan Benson among their fans. Not bad for an electronic-rock act started as a Redneck Manifesto side project less than a decade ago. 

Fresh from the release of their eagerly-awaited second album Keep On Keepin’ On, recent Hot Press cover stars The Riptide Movement are enjoying a wave of success that’s a long time coming. The “self-managed, self-produced, self-distributed, self-published” band honed their craft gigging on the streets of Dublin and are ready to take on venues around the world. Well versed in how to win over even the toughest crowd with their take on classic rock, they are renowned for their phenomenal performances. 

With Brian Hogan of Kila fame at the helm, Preachers Son are a collective whose mission it is to drag music back to the swamp. Eager to retain the grit, drama and attitude of true hard rock, they released their debut album Love Life & Limb in late 2010. It featured guest spots from the likes of Gavin Friday, Liam Ó Maonlaí and Kieran Kennedy. A follow-up is in the pipeline and promises to be another weighty affair. Until then, who knows who you'll find joining them on the Freezer Sessions stage?

Sunshine harmonies are key for Galway garage-pop lovers Dott, one of the many effervescent new bands the Popical Island roster now boasts. With Anna McCarthy in the song-writing driver's seat, they are a primarily female proposition (though Tony Higgins keeps time) with much promise. The Breeders and Weezer are influences, as is the art of writing a catchy tune. And yes, they are as fun as all that suggests. Their live sets and debut EP Button provides the proof.

Midlake stays ahead of its own time by making music that transcends it. The Denton, Texas band's 2006 release The Trails of Van Occupanther got fans and bloggers re-evalutating dormant ancestors like Fleetwood Mac, America, Crosby Stills Nash and Young and Bread - music that has been embedded in the indie worlds unconscious (Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear) ever since.
