artist profile :: Todd Terje

Since first appearing on the scene with 2005’s inimitable Balearic house anthem Eurodans, Todd Terje (real name Terje Olsen) has ploughed his own furrow as one of the world’s foremost producers, DJs and remixers, turning his hand at reworking tracks by everyone from the Bee Gees to fellow Norwegian producer Prins Thomas with his signature synth-driven (re)creations sprinkled with dub, disco and italo.
2011 saw the release of Ragysh, a full-on, 8-minute house workout on Gerd Janson’s Running Back imprint, but it was last year’s bona fide anthem Inspector Norse that propelled Terje’s name into the stratosphere, with the track being heard in clubs, earphones and at festivals all around the world.

PRESS QUOTES
“Inspector Norse” would be a pro-forma space-disco jam in lesser hands—it has that bulbous bassline, the tint of humor—but Terje transforms it into a daytime noir, one that spreads its pinging notes wide.” Andrew Gaerig, Pitchfork
