Take an obsession with words; add a splash of weirdness, some theatrical training and you'd have something like what My Fellow Sponges get up to on and off stage. They are a five-piece Galway-based band with very diverse musical and non-musical interests who sing in three part harmony and are influenced by a wide range of genres and musical styles. Instruments used to create their sound include, but not are not limited to, piano, double bass, electric base, acoustic guitar, flute, banjo, clarinet, tin whistle, melodica, ukelele, drums, harmonium, glockenspiel, bodhran, jew's harp and tuba. As they record their first EP, My Fellow Sponges are also touring extensively around the green isle, playing at festivals such as Body & Soul, Knockanstockan, Sunflowerfest, Boyle Arts Festival and the Ballinamore Fringe. They have played in many venues in Dublin and Galway including, the Mezz, The Mercantile, Sweeneys, The Workman's Club, Kelly's, The Cellar, Monroe's and the Róisín Dubh.
